		<description>Tales of the Thames
In collaboration with Somerset House’s writer in residence, Frances Wilson,
and Professor Jerry White, one of the world’s leading experts on the history
of the Thames, Tales of the Thames brings together a host of writers and
historians for a one-off event. We developed a stand alone visual identity
for the event which is applied to online and printed marketing communications.

		<description>Visitor exhibition
Mercedes-Benz have a flagship retail experience based at Brooklands
in Surrey. It provides a showcase for the heritage and technology of the
company as well as presenting new models. We developed the signage
and graphics for visitor information areas situated throughout the building.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1402273/Mercedes_001.1_1_950.jpg" width="950" height="544" width_o="950" height_o="544" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1402273/Mercedes_001.1_1_o.jpg" data-mid="7017332"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

Areas
There are five areas in total focussing on a different aspect of the brand,
each with a different theme: Build, Discover, Play, Solve and Watch.
A coherent visual approach was developed that integrates each area’s
content into the interior architecture of each space.

		<description>Identity and communications
With four offices located in South East England, Scott White and Hookins
are multi service engineering consultants. We worked closely with them
and the Holistic Group to develop a new brand identity in line with their
company offer.

Logotype
In an industry full of three letter company names, we recommended they
leverage the heritage and commercial equity of their full (original) name.
The logotype incorporates a custom letter 't', a subtle reference to the nature
of the company's work.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1449922/Comartportfolio-38110_Logo_web_950.gif" width="950" height="128" width_o="950" height_o="128" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1449922/Comartportfolio-38110_Logo_web_o.gif" data-mid="7072272"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

Stationery and correspondence
To bring more clarity to their communications the logotype is combined
with a list of services. This list acts as functional information and is used
as a graphic treatment on covers and the reverse of business cards.
A core set of three colours has been introduced.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1449922/Comartportfolio-38110_web_950.gif" width="950" height="651" width_o="950" height_o="651" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1449922/Comartportfolio-38110_web_o.gif" data-mid="7072297"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1449922/Comartportfolio-38110_Stationery_2_web_950.gif" width="950" height="665" width_o="950" height_o="665" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1449922/Comartportfolio-38110_Stationery_2_web_o.gif" data-mid="7072294"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

Marketing literature
A marketing brochure has been produced for each service. A secondary
set of colours has been introduced for service specific communications.
Again, the services list graphic is used with the relevant service highlighted.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1449922/Comartportfolio-38308_web_950.jpg" width="950" height="713" width_o="950" height_o="713" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1449922/Comartportfolio-38308_web_o.jpg" data-mid="7076060"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

		<description>Identity and signage
1 Alie Street is owned and managed by the City of London Corporation.
The building consists of offices with common use areas such as
kitchens and shower rooms. As part of a redevelopment project
we were commissioned to develop a new identity along with signage
and wayfinding throughout the building.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1485515/Alie_street_001.1_950.jpg" width="950" height="545" width_o="950" height_o="545" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1485515/Alie_street_001.1_o.jpg" data-mid="7252918"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

Identity and hierarchy
A bold typographic approach was developed referencing the form
of the building's main entrance. Content was rationalised into two kinds:
office and communal and a visual hierarchy was developed using
two different weights of arrow.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1485515/Alie_street_logo.jpg" width="475" height="206" width_o="475" height_o="206" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1485515/Alie_street_logo_o.jpg" data-mid="7282830"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1485515/Alie_street_001.12_950.jpg" width="710" height="561" width_o="710" height_o="561" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1485515/Alie_street_001.12_o.jpg" data-mid="9595912"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1485515/Alie_street_001.3_950.jpg" width="950" height="553" width_o="950" height_o="553" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1485515/Alie_street_001.3_o.jpg" data-mid="7525264"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

Colour coding
Each floor was assigned an identifying colour. These colours are
prominently applied at the entrance to each floor and are referenced
on the main reception directory sign.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1485515/Alie_street_001.9_950.jpg" width="950" height="264" width_o="950" height_o="264" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1485515/Alie_street_001.9_o.jpg" data-mid="9240429"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

Pictograms
A set of bespoke pictograms were developed to signpost specific
room types, stairways and elevators. These were designed to provide
maximum contrast and visibility along the building’s corridors.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1485515/Alie_street_001.8_6_950.jpg" width="710" height="591" width_o="710" height_o="591" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1485515/Alie_street_001.8_6_o.jpg" data-mid="7580414"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

System
In order to keep costs down we worked closely with the sign
manufacturer to adapt an off the shelf system of sign types.
A brushed aluminium finish has been specified with content
applied in two different greys. An effective solution was designed
and installed within a tight budget.
&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1485515/Alie_street_001.6.jpg" width="471" height="621" width_o="471" height_o="621" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1485515/Alie_street_001.6_o.jpg" data-mid="7525274"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

They work in partnership with organisations to maximise the efficiency
and impact of their brand and communications.

Identity
The Roel logotype is a simple reference to their collaborative approach
to working with clients. Making use of the œ ligature the result is a subtle
yet confident company signature.

Stationery items
The logotype is the corner stone of a structured identity system
that is applied across stationery, office correspondence and folders.

		<description>Exhibition wall
The Sorrell Foundation was set up in 1999 with the aim of inspiring creativity
in young people and improving the quality of life through good design.
The Foundation creates and prototypes new ideas and develops models
that can be widely used.

The six stage process
We worked closely with them to develop a key part of their ‘What’s Next
for Schools' exhibition at Somerset House. The Foundation hosts schools
from all across the UK and aims to introduce the school children to the
creative process. The requirement of this project was to clearly communicate
the six stage process that pupils are taken through at the Foundation’s
‘Young Design Centre’. The outcome also needs to be easily updated
on a regular basis.

Panels
Our solution utilised the existing shelves in the space to create a photographic
journey through the process. Imagery documenting the pupils at various stages
was collated and produced as panels which are placed onto the shelves.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1878922/sorrell_foundation_wall_0.6.jpg" width="471" height="340" width_o="471" height_o="340" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1878922/sorrell_foundation_wall_0.6_o.jpg" data-mid="9298710"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1878922/sorrell_foundation_wall_0.5.jpg" width="471" height="224" width_o="471" height_o="224" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1878922/sorrell_foundation_wall_0.5_o.jpg" data-mid="9295921"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

A numbered panel is placed at the beginning of each row of images with
a summary explanation of that particular stage. Placed along each row
and mounted onto the front of the shelves are a series of collected quotes
and thoughts from previous participants.

		<description>Annual Review
Situated on the North bank of the Thames, Somerset House is a cultural
destination and London landmark. Throughout the year they host a wide
variety of events and exhibitions, for all ages. We designed their 2008/09
Annual Review.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1401894/Cargo_SomHouse_report_01_950.jpg" width="950" height="694" width_o="950" height_o="694" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1401894/Cargo_SomHouse_report_01_o.jpg" data-mid="7582128"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

Content and design
Our solution for the review is a direct response to the content we were
provided with. The largest section is the public programme giving an overview
of events in chronological order. We placed all content into a tinted banner
acting as a timeline running through the document.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1401894/SomHouse_report_0.1.jpg" width="471" height="327" width_o="471" height_o="327" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1401894/SomHouse_report_0.1_o.jpg" data-mid="9456283"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1401894/SomHouse_report_0.9_950.jpg" width="950" height="326" width_o="951" height_o="327" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1401894/SomHouse_report_0.9_o.jpg" data-mid="9456795"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1401894/SomHouse_report_0.8_950.jpg" width="950" height="326" width_o="951" height_o="327" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1401894/SomHouse_report_0.8_o.jpg" data-mid="9456794"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1401894/SomHouse_report_0.10_950.jpg" width="950" height="326" width_o="951" height_o="327" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1401894/SomHouse_report_0.10_o.jpg" data-mid="9456797"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1401894/report_01_o.gif" /&#62;

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1401894/SomHouse_report_0.11.jpg" width="471" height="327" width_o="471" height_o="327" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1401894/SomHouse_report_0.11_o.jpg" data-mid="9456798"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

A french folded format was specified to emphasise the continuous nature
of the content. And the idea of time was further reinforced on the cover.
The timeline begins on the front with a photograph of Somerset House during
the day and ends on the back cover with an identical view taken at night. &#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1401894/Cargo_SomHouse_report_07.jpg" width="471" height="231" width_o="471" height_o="231" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1401894/Cargo_SomHouse_report_07_o.jpg" data-mid="7582138"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1401894/Cargo_SomHouse_report_08_950.jpg" width="950" height="694" width_o="950" height_o="694" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/1401894/Cargo_SomHouse_report_08_o.jpg" data-mid="7582139"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

		<description>The UK marketing team at Nokia approached us to help
with their eco marketing initiative. This would help drive
sustainable working practices throughout the organisation.

Symbol
A symbol had already been developed but there was
no rationale for it’s application and the symbol itself still
required some refinement. We refined the symbol and
devised a system for it’s application in line with Nokia’s
eco marketing strategy.
&#60;img src="http://payload41.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/3125399/nokia_we_animation_02_o.gif"/&#62;

Proposition
A set of propositions were defined for application across
a number of uses and contexts.

&#60;img src="http://payload41.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/3125399/nokia_we_01_950.jpg" width="950" height="327" width_o="950" height_o="327" src_o="http://payload41.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/3125399/nokia_we_01_o.jpg" data-mid="15968357"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

Posters

&#60;img src="http://payload41.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/3125399/nokia_we_09_950.jpg" width="950" height="621" width_o="950" height_o="621" src_o="http://payload41.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/3125399/nokia_we_09_o.jpg" data-mid="15998671"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

Applications

&#60;img src="http://payload41.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/3125399/nokia_we_10_950.jpg" width="950" height="315" width_o="950" height_o="315" src_o="http://payload41.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/3125399/nokia_we_10_o.jpg" data-mid="16014179"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

&#60;img src="http://payload41.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/3125399/nokia_we_11_950.jpg" width="950" height="315" width_o="950" height_o="315" src_o="http://payload41.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/3125399/nokia_we_11_o.jpg" data-mid="16014180"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

3D application
&#60;img src="http://payload41.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/3125399/nokia_we_12_950.jpg" width="950" height="468" width_o="950" height_o="468" src_o="http://payload41.cargocollective.com/1/3/102948/3125399/nokia_we_12_o.jpg" data-mid="16014181"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

Brand guidelines
To help communicate this to design managers and agencies,
a set of guidelines were produced. These included best practice
examples of the symbol in application.
